Tips to Every Day Calm: Changing your Attitude

We all lose our cool at some point. Be it from a lousy day at work or an irritating hang nail sometimes it's hard to not sweat the small stuff. Of course, a big part of how you feel is your own attitude which, luckily, you have some control over.

Occasionally it's as simple as telling yourself to get over it -- That car that cut you off doesn't care that you're cursing it's license plate and getting angry about it is just working you up more than if you took a deep breath and concentrated on your own driving instead. When you find yourself in a crabby mood over something petty just be happy! It sounds simple but tell yourself that it's not a big deal and command yourself to smile and even laugh. As cheesy as it sounds, sometimes laughter really is the best medicine.

Remember when you were a kid and your parents sent you to your room or for a time out? They had the right idea then and they still do now. If you're in a stressful situation or are feeling frustrated the best thing to do is to just walk away from the problem for a few minutes and take a few deep breaths. You'll be able to re-attack your problem with a fresh mind and a renewed sense of calm.

Seriously, don't sweat the small stuff.
